Strategic Design

Designing for Your Client and Not Yourself

When it comes to designing for your client, it takes a persistent and innovative strategy in order to achieve the end result, a gratified client and a beautiful home.  It is our job as trained interior designers to push aside our personal aesthetic likes and dislikes to create recommendations that are truly best for the client.  Channing and I base these recommendations off of a process involving (but not limited to) interviews with members of the household, physical and emotional observations, field documentation, inspiration, concepts, and end goals.

Because of our trained observational skills and delicate eye for detail, we have found our process to be repeatedly successful.  We often express to our clients that we are constantly listening, taking notes, and sketching while we are with them.  It serves us no good to recommend a design solution based off our own personal styles, as we know the outcome probably won't result in satisfied client.  There is not a more rewarding feeling than that of a delighted client knowing that we have taken the chaos of their living environment and turned it into a harmonious, practical, and organized place to live at the pace they so choose.

During the beginning of a project, Channing and I make sure to ask our clients questions such as, "what is the function of this room?" and "what about this inspiration image do you like and dislike?".  It's important that we allow our clients to feel comfortable in conversing with us, as we typically learn quite a bit about their personal lives and their day-to-day schedules.  We like to get down to the nitty-gritty details so we are able to propose creative solutions for the wants and needs of our clients.

Lastly, Channing and I stress that we are our clients' design advocates.  We are here to push them forward with timeless and innovative design solutions.  Many people don't know what they want for their home, and that's okay!  Design professionals such as Channing and myself, and many other talented designers around the world are here to guide our clients through the process and help them achieve the end result they truly want.  We love what we do for a living and are beyond passionate about the work we propose to our clients.  We all know that once you start working a job that feels more like fun than work, then you're in the right role.  This is how we know we can provide our clients with the best design solutions for them!
